A Scrap Border Quilt

I love using up scraps to make a cohesive and fun design.  Here’s my little doll quilt using a tutorial made by Rita Hodge at redpepperquilts.com.   Check out her original design to see how lovely it looks when large.  http://www.redpepperquilts.com/2009/10/tutorial.html This quilt really is the ultimate scrap buster quilt. Anything goes in a mixed color scheme or you have some fun choosing just a few colors if you want.    I changed the plain block squares from a snow color to a solid red.  I’m doing the Rainbow Scrap Challenge which is a fun way for many of us to try a new color every month.  http://superscrappy.blogspot.com  This month the color is red and therefore, I’m going to sprinkle red into everything I make this month.

Here’s my little quilt.  I love that this is colorful, maybe masculine and a fun theme of scrappiness.  On the back I used that middle swatch of fabric with colored squares.  Of course, this is a donated fabric from that same stash from Rosemary.  On the back is a scrappy label with a favorite frog and owl.  Finally, the navy blue and white binding perfectly seals the edge and adds a little extra whimsy.

I’m sure I”ll eventually be making another one of these in different colors.  I can see one in blues and greens only.  Hmmm, until next time.  Thanks for reading my blog.  Leave me a comment if you would like.  I would love to answer you back.

    • Thanks, this was fun to make and use up so many scraps. I’ll be using this design again, I’m certain of that.
