Snow days equal sew days

It’s been a luxury having some extra sewing time due to snow days.  I felt like a kid when school was cancelled this week, “yeah, I’ll get to sew!”  I guess having Annie, our coonhound puppy, around me all the time has influenced my quilt design this time.  I made a sweet puppy doll blanket with liftable ears.  (Rosemary, the dog was completely made with your fabric!) I followed this adorable foundation paper piecing pattern http://www.fonsandporter.com/wp-content/uploads/FP-A-2860_Bonus_DF.pdf             but I really think the appliqué ears would be nicer if they were larger.   I plan to make a similar design again and next time, I’ll add floppy ears like those soft ones on Annie.

I used some fun scrappy fabrics from many different designers.  I think it’s a fun and crazy little doggy quilt.  My favorite are the ears that you lift up and find Rosemary’s pink fabric underneath.  Because anyone with animals knows, that their ears are pink inside!  I promised to always make a few doll blankets just with boys in mind, and this may be my favorite so far.  Here’s the back of the blanket with a little doggy label for the final touch.  I have many more finished quilts to share but for now, this Annie one will have to suffice.

    • Amy, you are my inspiration. I just have to get these washed and send them as soon as I can. I admit this doggy may be the hardest to let go, but he’s destined for you, I promise!!

    • Thanks. I love this pattern. I am fairly happy with how he came out, though I still think the ears should be bigger next time. I’m going to start another dog blanket as soon as I find the time. Then, i must try the cat from this pattern!
