Be Humble and Kind!!

So sorry I’m late with my post. There’s a lot going on in my life right now and I missed my deadline by a day. While I’m rushing to get this blog hop blog post done, the quilt top has actually been done for several weeks now!!!! Why do I do this?? I need to be better at time management!! Thank you so much Joan of Moosestashquilting.com for this wonderful hop theme. I really appreciate the work you put in with these hops. I know you suggested something bee related, but I took off in a different direction.

I was inspired to bring out my solid fabrics and play around with lettering. I so enjoyed the abstract process making this random design around the words, “Be Kind”. While I don’t quite feel it qualifies as a crumb quilt, it’s close. I don’t have a bee in the quilt, but that’s fine for me. I loved making it simple with just words. I wanted to write “Be Humble and Kind” after the Tim McGraw song of the same name. It’s a beautiful song, to which most of us parents can relate. I had heard that he wrote the song for his daughter when she was going off to college. I just love it. The song is the inspiration behind my quilt. Though my design only says “be kind”, it’s the same sentiment. His lyrics say it so much better than I ever could.

So above is my quilt top. No, it isn’t quilted yet. I wanted to do it. I thought about it, but it’s going to go to charity, where mailing a top is easier. I will be making another one of these, but it will be in different colors. I just pulled this top together without a thought of organizing the color areas. I want to try another version that I then give to someone special. I really like the idea of this one going to someone in need that Cynthia of quiltingismorefunthanhousework.blogspot.com will give out for her Many Hands Many Hearts charity.

I will gladly make a second one and try to finish it for a friend. Until then, this is my latest charitable contribution.

Thank you for stopping by. Better late than never on my part. All the best, and please check out all the other wonderful projects.
