Zippered Generosity

I just want to write a quick post to showcase these zippered bags that a lovely quilter has made. As I mentioned in a previous blog post, my young friend Maggie, is making 180 zippered pouches to donate to a school in South Africa. She is filling each bag with donated school supplies and delivering them to the school. In my post for the Show Your Stripes blog hop, I invited anyone interested to help make some zippered pouches.

Well, Mary Pat heard the call and went way above and beyond and donated a treasure trove of zippered pouches. She dug into her stash, spent her time and mailed the most gorgeous, varied, colorful and well-constructed zippered bags. Each one is a work of art!! I wanted to give her a shout out because how can you properly thank someone for such generosity!?? Mary Pat, thank you, thank you, thank you. These are gems of the highest order!!

Mary Pat, Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. These are gems of the highest order.

Here are the bags Mary Pat has donated to Maggie’s project. Maggie was thrilled and is getting close to her goal of 180 thanks to such generosity!!

These beloved Laurel Birch fabrics with gold highlights are so magnificent.

Here are Mary Pat’s creations. Tell me they’re not stunning!!! I love each and every one and can’t thank her enough.

The middle floral fabrics would definitely make a gorgeous skirt or dress. I giggled when I saw this toucan with a pearl necklace. She’s so fancy!!
These striped bags are so fun. Mary Pat has the best sense of color and design!
This bag had a centerpiece using these funky scraps. It pulls together so nicely with the more muted pieces all around. I love this one of a kind bag!
These were so interesting. This first bag is all pieced. I admire that flat curved piecing so much!

You can see from all the above beauties, that it’s hard to pick a favorite. They are all so fabulous. Soon, each of these bags will head overseas to provide much-needed materials to the 180 school children in Bulawayo, South Africa.

If anyone else has a hankering to make some zippered bags, please private message me and I’ll be grateful for your interest as well.

Mary Pat, I am so glad to call you my new friend.

  1. Thank you for the kind words my friend! I hope lots of other folks will send one or two pencil cases as well. I am retired and had lots of time to make them. I went a little crazy 🙂
I am so inspired by Maggie and her commitment to good works for others.
The pencil cases were so much fun to make and a great stash buster!

    • You know I’m a huge fan of your pencil cases. They were just gorgeous and so well made. I also love making these little bags with scraps that are lying around. It’s fun to make a small project sometimes. A quick finish is good for the ego. Again, Mary Pat, you are incredible. XOXO Sending a virtual hug. Elana
