  2. Awww! Your quilt is perfect for the doll Amy has made. I have some quilts to send her, and some hospital gowns awaiting binding. After this weekend, masks are required in all stores, so I’m just biding my time, thinking if everyone is wearing a masks and I just pop in and out real fast, I’ll feel comfortable enough. Texas is scary right now.

    • I’m so sorry it’s gotten bad in Texas. I grew up in L.A. and my parents are still there. I’m not happy that the virus is growing there as well. I order all my fabric online so no stores for me. I actually prefer this method but I do miss a good JoAnns run for notions. Please share your doll quilts when you finish some. Thanks for stopping by cause it’s great to stay in touch with you. Stay well.

    • A Doll Like Me is the brainchild of my friend Amy J. Check out her facebook page for more information. She custom makes each doll with exact details to match the little client. Many of her “kids” have missing limbs and other differences since birth. Amy aims to see that every child can have a doll that looks like them. I just occasionally sew clothing for her but she’s the owner and creator behind A Doll Like Me.

I can see that you are a lover of scraps (like ME) Art therapy must be a fascinating occupation. If I were 40 years younger, I think I would consider it!

    • Susan, Scraps are my addiction indeed~! Art therapy is a fascinating field. Sadly, jobs aren’t that easy to come by but I’ve been fortunate thus far. For me, it feels more like a calling than anything else. I feel I was born to do this. Amy of A Doll Like Me is a wonderful person who thoroughly has found her calling as well. Thanks so much for stopping by.

    • Roseanne, thanks so much. I know that Amy still has many doll quilts but I’m trying to finish some baby quilts for Jack’s Basket. If only I had a long arm, I could probably give them 6 right now!! The life of a quilter is that we never complete all our projects but I really need to do some giving away. Amy’s dolls keep calling me and I will never stop making items for them.

  14. The doll and clothing are definitely a ray of sunshine! There is a fabric store here in town that makes dolls and outfits as well as baby quilts and pillowcases for our children’s hospital. It’s a nice cause that unfortunately never ends. Amy’s work is wonderful.

    • Ahhh, I would gladly donate to that store. It is true that the need never ends, but we also never stop wanting to give to others. I have so many baby quilts that just need quilting.
I could donate so frequently!! thanks so much for your comments. You make me smile so much.

  15. What a great project the “Doll like me” is. I think it is important for a child to have a doll to identify with. Our daughter is Asian and it took us a while, but we found an Asian-looking baby doll, which she loved.
    Great yellow quilts!

    • Ahh, you’re so sweet. Yes, it is a sad story. Amy does incredible work and it’s all her business and mission. I”m just a little helper here and there when she needs clothing or something else. Amy’s lovely mom sews most of the clothing for her and I do specialty, more detailed items. It’s all Amy though!! SHE IS AN ANGEL!

    • Vicki, I”m sure the doll will bring such joy to that little girl. The blanket and clothing is nice, but it’s the doll that takes on a persona and place of friendship. Amy gets to know each client and truly stitches each doll with love. The spring camo fabric is kind of cool but I just found it and have never used it. It’s time to give some away.
